ROE HIGHWAY STAGE 8 — CONTRACTS
1042. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to contracts to build Roe 8.
(1) By what date
does the government expect to finalise the contracts?
(2) If a new
government elected in March chose to renege on the contracts, would the cost of
doing so be likely to exceed $500 million?
(3) What is the
government's estimate of the potential cost of reneging on contracts?
(4) If the
Australian Labor Party were to publicly announce now that it will renege on all
contracts to build Roe 8 should it win government in March, would this be
likely to have any influence on current negotiations over terms in the
contracts?
