WESTERN AUSTRALIAN METH STRATEGY
1296. Hon ADELE FARINA to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Mental Health:
(1) How much
funding has been allocated towards implementation of the Western Australian
Meth Strategy 2016?
(2) How much of
this funding has been spent to date; and would the minister please list the
projects funded, the funding amount for each of these projects, and the date on
which the funding allocation for each of these projects was made?
(3) How much of the funding has been
allocated to projects in —
(a) Bunbury; and
(b) the south west region?
(4) If not all
the moneys have been spent to date, how much of the funding that has not been
spent has been allocated to upcoming or ongoing projects?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The total
amount of funding allocated towards implementation of the state meth strategy
is $14.911 million over two years, namely 2016–17 and 2017–18.
(2) The expenditure is not able to
be extracted in the time frame available to respond. However, I table the
information that is available.[See paper 4870.]
(3) (a) Specific
information regarding Bunbury is not avai1ab1e, as services purchased will
service the entire south west region.
(b) Initial
allocations for the south west from specific projects from the Western Australian
Meth Strategy 2016 are as follows —
(i) $442 000, excluding GST, for the
provision of clinical nurse liaison;
(ii) $481 820, excluding GST, for the
provision of community alcohol and drug services;
(iii) $953 751,
excluding GST, for the provision of 14 residential rehabilitation beds at
Nannup; and
(iv) $240 000,
excluding GST, for the provision of two low-medical withdrawal beds at Nannup.
(4) The
year-to-date expenditure is not available in the time frame available to
respond. However, all funding provided to the Mental Health Commission as part
of the Western Australian Meth Strategy 2016 has been allocated to the projects
outlined in (2) above.
