WAROONA–YARLOOP
BUSHFIRES — FERGUSON REPORT — TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT
453. Ms M.M. QUIRK to the Minister for
Police:
I refer to ongoing issues with
traffic management identified in the Ferguson inquiry and its findings that
there were many examples of inflexible impractical traffic management by police
during bushfires.
(1) What training
is given to police personnel staffing vehicle control points at bushfires?
(2) Can the
minister explain why this is still a problem when the Keelty inquiry first identified this as an issue in 2011?
(3) Given the
latest adverse findings on top of previous findings, what does the minister
intend to do?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for the question.
(1)–(3) Obviously
the government has just received this report—the Ferguson inquiry. We
are currently going through that and reviewing the recommendations and we will
table our response in due course in Parliament.
