Services:
I refer to media reports relating
to the fire at Premier Coal from 2 to 3 January 2023.
(1) Why was this
fire not reported to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services when it
initially broke out on Monday, 2 January 2023?
(2) What was the cause of this fire
and when was it first reported to DFES?
(3) When did the
fire begin and when was it extinguished?
(4) What was the cost and amount of
coal damaged by this fire?

(1) The question would be best
asked of Premier Coal.
(2) It was reported to the Department of Fire and
Emergency Services by Premier Coal as suspected spontaneous combustion
in the centre of the stockpile. It was reported at 2.16 pm on 3 January 2023.
(3) Premier Coal
observed the fire in the evening of 2 January 2023. It was extinguished on 6 January
2023.
(4) Department of Fire and
Emergency Services is not aware.
