I refer to the third report of the Public Accounts Committee of May 2003, which states that the committee may “examine the financial affairs and accounts of government agencies of the State …”. What has the committee done about the Auditor General’s report No 6 of 2001, “Lifting the Rating: Stroke Management in Western Australia”; if nothing, will the committee examine whether any of the recommendations of the report have been adopted? Mr J.B. D’ORAZIO

The simple answer is no. The SPEAKER: My understanding of questions to a standing committee chairperson is that questions can be asked on administrative matters over which the chairperson may have control but not relating to any examination that is currently afoot. I understand that the question the member for Alfred Cove asked related to a report that has been tabled and the administrative functions involved in following that up. Is that the question? Dr J.M. WOOLLARD: Yes. Mr J.B. D’ORAZIO: There is no current inquiry on the issue. I am happy to take up the matter with the member if she would like to tell me exactly what she wants to know. I will provide the information if I can.
