Hon Peter Foss asks the Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries about a delayed response to a letter, its delivery to the Shire of Manjimup, and a potentially missing copy. The Minister provides details of the response's dispatch and receipt, denies receiving a hand-delivered copy, and confirms existing mail handling procedures are adequate.

I refer to your answers to question without notice No. 223 -
(1) Have you now answered this letter?
(2) If so, when?
(3) In view of the considerable delay from when the letter was sent to the Government, did you take any, and if so what, measures to expedite the answer?
(4) In particular, how was the letter sent to the Shire, and what delay was there between you signing the letter and it being transmitted?
(5) I have since asking question without notice No. 223, spoken to the Shire of Manjimup who tell me that at the same time as they hand delivered a copy of the letter to the Minister for the Environment and Heritage they also hand delivered a copy to you -
(a) do you know what happened to that copy of the letter;
(b) if you do not, will you make appropriate investigations to ascertain what happened to it;
(c) if you are unable to ascertain what happened to it will you ensure that you have in place measures to prevent a loss in future; and
(d) will you table a copy of your response?
