SCHOOLTEACHERS - LEAVE
(1) How many primary school teachers and how many secondary school teachers employed with the Department of Education and Training applied for long service leave and leave without pay in 2008 by 29 June 2007, the due date for leave requests? (2) How many requests for long service leave and leave without pay were granted to - (a) primary school teachers; and (b) secondary school teachers? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Of primary school teachers, 669 applied for long service leave and 172 applied for leave without pay. Of secondary school teachers, 516 applied for long service leave and 86 applied for leave without pay. (2) (a) Long service leave was approved for 673 primary school teachers, and applications for leave without pay are being processed. (b) Long service leave has been approved for 472 secondary school teachers; and applications for leave without pay are being processed.
