FOREST PRODUCTS COMMISSION — CONTRACT OBLIGATIONS
I refer to the minister’s media statement of January 2010 in which the minister said, regarding the possibility of a sale of the fee-for-service and share farming division of the Forest Products Commission private sector — Obligations to investors and landowners will be met regardless of any sale or restructure to FPC. (1) Does the Forest Products Commission currently intend to honour all plantation contracts entered into with landowners under Infinitree, Strategic Tree Planting or other contracts? (2) If no to (1), what, if any, compensation will be paid to landowners who entered contracts with government in good faith and who chose an annual annuity or a share of crop on the assumption that FPC resources would assist to manage the trees? (3) What is the FPC’s current policy regarding farm forestry? Hon ROBYN McSWEENEY
