GERALDTON BOAT-LIFTER PROJECT
I refer to the Geraldton boat-lifter project. (1) Was the government aware at the time of allocating $1.5 million earlier this year towards the heavy boat lifter in Geraldton that the initial cost estimate had blown out due, among other things, to the increased steel, fuel and construction costs in Western Australia? (2) If not, what is the government now proposing to do to ensure the provision of the heavy boat lifter for Geraldton fishermen, given the 15 per cent estimated cost blow-out for the project?
