The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) advises:
(a) Yes.
(i) DFES directly manages the following initiatives to support people with disabilities and their support network to plan for emergencies: • The At Risk Communities Program provides resources, tools and information to service providers across the State for them to use with their clients in the development of plans for older people or people with disability receiving in home support. • Development of the DFES At Higher Risk Strategy, including recent engagement workshops involving the following disability support providers
o Kiind; o Developmental Disability WA; o Carers WA; o Rocky Bay; o Inclusion Solutions; and o APM Communities.
• Establishment of a reference group for the DFES At Higher Risk Strategy with representation from:
o People with Disabilities WA; o Developmental Disability WA; o Women with Disabilities Australia; and o Centre for Accessibility.
• Disability Inclusive Emergency Planning Forums in the City of Rockingham and the Shire of Mundaring involving people with disability and their carers, emergency management personnel and service providers. DFES are applying for funding to extend these forums to 11 local governments.
