As a supplementary question, given that the Premier describes tourism as the State’s second economic front, how does he justify the closure of the Singapore and Malaysia tourism offices? Dr G.I. GALLOP

We are adopting a new approach to marketing Western Australia. It has been developed by the Tourism Commission. It will be more effective than those offices are for projecting Western Australia onto the world stage. We are a Government of change. We learn from experience. We do things that are different. The Opposition comprises conservatives whose thinking is stuck in the 1960s or the 1950s. Let me give another example of how our Government is encouraging tourism. I am very proud of the work that we are doing with the creative industries. Members need only look at what Vogue magazine says about the State’s fashion industry and what The Australian says about our music industry. Today we are very proud to talk about the State’s film industry. Under the leadership of the Minister for Culture and the Arts and my strong support, we are creating in Western Australia an energy and enthusiasm that means that people want to come here. Members opposite think that a tourism strategy is about only the Tourism Commission budget. They have not learnt anything. It is about the way we adopt governing strategies, protect the environment, encourage creative industries and project the great State of Western Australia in the international economy.
