327. Hon Sophie McNeill to the Minister for the
Environment:
(1) Can the minister please explain what
critically endangered, vulnerable, specially protected or priority species the
Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions has confirmed are
found at Scott Reef?
(2) Are any of the species referred to in (1)
endemic to Scott Reef?
(3) What measures is the department taking to
monitor, conserve and protect the dusky sea snake, which was added to the
department's threatened and priority fauna list in March this year?

and Attractions has the following 27 conservation-listed species recorded as

(3) The dusky sea snake, Aipysurus fuscus , was listed as threatened under
the Environment Protection and Biodiversity
Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC act) on 24 September 2024, in the category
of "endangered". The species is not currently listed under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 but a
nomination for listing the species as threatened will be considered at the next
Threatened Species Scientific Committee meeting in 2025.
