I refer to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and NDIS My Way trials, and I ask: (a) what development activities have been undertaken in the sector to prepare not-for-profit organisations for the introduction of the NDIS or the NDIS My Way trials; and (b) what development activities have been or are currently being undertaken in the sector in the lower South West to assist not-for-profit organisations transition due to the introduction of the NDIS My Way trial?

(a) The Disability Services Commission has undertaken a range of activities to support the non-government sector to respond to and prepare for the introduction of the NDIS or the NDIS My Way trials.
· Regular information forums and workshops were held for service providers in the Lower South West to prepare for the roll out of the trial and similar information forums have commenced for service providers in the Cockburn / Kwinana trial site.
· Sector development funding was provided to the non-government sector and peak bodies to facilitate the flow of information and support engagement on the NDIS.
· Sector consultations have been and are continuing to inform the development and implementation of the WA NDIS My Way Pricing Framework.
· The Lower South West Regional Director has met personally with non-government organisations providing services in the area to respond to queries and support transition to WA NDIS My Way.
· The Disability Services Commission Director General has conducted non-government sector CEO and Board Chairs forums to consult on the WA NDIS My Way Pricing Framework and model.
(b) Activities that are being undertaken to support the sector to be prepared for the introduction of the NDIS or the NDIS My Way trials in partnership with key organisations include:
· specialised training, recruitment and traineeships for the sector to increase their capacity to respond to the requirements of NDIS and WA NDIS My Way;
· ongoing capacity building to enable the sector to respond to an individualised planning and funding environment;
· the establishment of the Information and Support Network to engage with all stakeholders to ensure ongoing information provision and consultation;
· collaboration with National Disability Services for a non-government sector forum in the Lower South West to get feedback on the implementation of the trials so far;
· a consultative review of the WA NDIS My Way Pricing framework;
regular information and engagement forums in the Cockburn / Kwinana area to prepare for the 1 July 2015 rollout.
