1446. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the Minister for Agriculture and
Food:
I refer to the withdrawal of animal
cruelty charges against Emanuel Exports Pty Ltd.
(1) When was the
legal advice that led to the withdrawal of charges originally sought and
received by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development?
(2) Having regard
to the manner in which the information was acquired that led to the charges
being laid, will the minister —
(a) support the
referral of this matter to the Corruption and Crime Commission; or
(b) initiate an independent investigation into the way
the prosecution process was handled by DPIRD?
