PORT — CONTAINER CAPACITY
1170. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) What does the
government currently believe is the maximum number of containers that the
Fremantle inner harbour will be able to handle per year?
(2) Can the current road and rail
network to the inner harbour handle this number of containers?
(3) Will the road
and rail network to the inner harbour be able to handle this number of
containers if the Perth Freight Link is completed?
(4) If no to (3) —
(a) what is the maximum number of
containers they will be able to handle per year; and
(b) what additional road or rail
upgrades will be required?
(5) Will the minister table the modelling or studies on which
his answers are based?

for Transport, I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) The
government is assessing the container capacity of the inner harbour as part of
the due diligence for the proposed Fremantle port divestment.
(2)–(3)
The capacity and efficiency of transport links servicing the inner harbour now
and into the future is being considered as part of the container capacity
assessment.
(4)–(5) Not applicable.
