AMERY CROSSING REALIGNMENT
Since January 2003, the Shire of Dowerin council has had a submission with the minister regarding the Amery Crossing realignment, which is a declared black spot. (1) When will this matter be resolved? (2) Will the minister ensure that this realignment is made a priority and that discussions commence immediately with the Dowerin Shire Council? Hon ADELE FARINA

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. (1)-(2) Funding of $50 000 has been made available to the council under the black spot program to undertake the road realignment. However, the works cannot proceed until an excision of A-class reserve 38703 is made under the Land Administration Act. Under section 45(4) of the act, the proposal to amend class A reserve 38703 must be tabled in both houses of Parliament for 14 sitting days. The document will be tabled this week. The minister confirms that funding for this project is being held over, pending the outcome of the excision process.
