GLOBAL PLANT — CONTAMINATION CONCERN
1. 769. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the minister representing the Minister
for Environment:
I refer to the minister's answer to question on
notice 5731 regarding monitoring of contamination at the Cristal Global site in
Australind.
(1) As part of
the Department of Environment and Conservation's role in monitoring progress
on contamination and remediation, does it visit the site and carry out any
testing?
(2) If no to (1), how is this monitoring carried out?
(3) If yes to (l) —
(a) what type of testing is
carried out;
(b) when was the last testing
done; and
(c) what are the results?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) No.
(2) The
Department of Environment and Conservation monitors progress on the
investigation and remediation of the Cristal Global site by reviewing reports
from the company's consultants and the contaminated sites auditor,
which are prepared and provided to DEC in response to classification of the
site under the Contaminated Sites Act 2003 and to comply with the premises'
licence under the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
(3) Not applicable.
