REGIONAL ALLOWANCES — INEQUITY
I have a supplementary question. Would the Treasurer not concede that it makes him look a bit insincere in his protestations of his interest in regional issues, if he is raising an issue with the federal government and doing nothing about an issue over which he has complete control? Mr T.R. BUSWELL

If we were not doing anything about an issue over which we have control, the member for Pilbara would be right. We are doing something. Those discussions are happening within government and a solution will be delivered. Here we are participating with state funds to deliver outcomes for district allowances, whilst at the same time raising what I think is an even more significant point about taxation zonal rebates in our discussions with the commonwealth on commonwealth taxation reform.
