The following answer has been
provided on behalf of the Minister for Environment.
(1) Household
waste—source-separated municipal waste—from the greater Bunbury
region is taken to the Banksia Road Waste
Management Facility in Dardanup, both directly and transferred there via the
Stanley Road Waste Management Facility and local government waste
transfer stations, and to the Richardson Road Waste Management Facility.
(2) Withdrawn
project funds are not held separately by the state government. Any new request
for funding will be considered as part of the normal budgetary process.
(3) In 2022, the Department of Water and Environmental
Regulation commissioned a state waste infrastructure audit and a needs
analysis to collate statewide data and evaluate the state's estimated
waste infrastructure needs to 2050. These
will collectively support the development of a state waste infrastructure plan.
The state waste infrastructure plan
will provide a long-term framework to guide decision-making for the planning
and development of waste infrastructure, aligned with the targets and
objectives of the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030. The
state waste infrastructure plan will complement other waste strategy actions,
which contribute to improving the planning, development and operation of waste
infrastructure.
