SCHOOLS — PERIMETER FENCING
71. Hon MATT BENSON-LIDHOLM to the Minister for Education:
I refer to perimeter security
fencing around schools.
(1) What were the
total funds allocated for fencing in each of the 2008–09, 2009–10,
2010–11, 2011–12 and 2012–13 budgets?
(2) Which primary
and secondary schools had perimeter security fencing installed during those
periods?
(3) What was the cost of fencing at
the schools referred to in (2)?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The amount of
$0.5 million is set aside each year from the Department of Education's
building maintenance program to install perimeter security fencing at schools
that exhibit the highest levels of wilful damage.
(2)–(3) The
table—which I will table—shows expenditure against the
perimeter security fencing program for each year between June 2008 and June
2012.
The perimeter security fencing
program for 2012–13 includes Maddington Primary School, completed, $81 714;
Wanneroo Senior High School, in progress; East Wanneroo Primary School, in
progress; Cyril Jackson Senior Campus, in progress; Phoenix Primary School, in
progress; Darling Range Sports College, in progress. As I said, I table the
document.
