BUS SERVICES — ROUTES 354 AND 870
797. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) Why is the
Department of Transport reducing the frequency of the services of the
replacement 354 route and increasing frequency of the services on the replacement
870 route when patronage figures would suggest that it should be the other way
around?
(2) Did the
Department of Transport advertise on the affected 354 route that it was
effectively halving service frequency and changing the route or did it rely on
passengers seeking the information from the website; and, if it was not
advertised, why not?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Patronage
figures indicate the greatest patronage is generated along the corridor that
the route 870 bus service currently operates, with substantial numbers
travelling to and from Mirrabooka bus station.
(2) Yes.
