I refer the Premier to his decision to reject the Coral Coast Marina Development Pty Ltd resort proposal, and ask - (1) Is the Premier cognisant of the fact that the Environmental Protection Authority found that the biophysical and pollution impacts associated with the proposal’s footprint could be managed with the satisfactory implementation of environmental management commitments and recommended conditions to meet the environmental objectives of the EPA? (2) If so, why did the Premier claim in his open letter that the environmental risks and management needs for the proposal had not been demonstrated to be environmentally acceptable? (3) Following the receipt of the appeals committee report, why did the Premier not discuss the proposal with other relevant ministers and agencies to assess the Government’s capacity to establish adequate long-term management of the Ningaloo coast? Hon KIM CHANCE
