I refer to the Gap Ridge Industrial Estate located on the corner of Dampier Road and Seven Mile Road, approximately 8.4 km from the Karratha Town Centre, and ask -
(1) Is the Minister aware that the area of the Gap Ridge Industrial Estate was covered by a priority ecological community listing?
(2) Did Landcorp carry out a physical survey of the area prior to designing or commencing development of the area?
(3) If yes to (2), on what date or dates was this carried out?
(4) Did Landcorp only carry out a desktop evaluation of the area prior to designing or commencing development of the area?
(5) If yes to (4), why?
(6) As a result of either physical or desktop survey was the issue of the priority ecological community refered to the EPA?
(7) If yes to (6), on what date?
(8) As a result of either physical or desktop survey was the issue of the priority ecological community refered to the DEC?
(9) If yes to (8), on what date?
(10) How much by percentage does the Gap Ridge Industrial Estate impact on the priority ecological community?
(11) How much by percentage is the priority ecological community impacted by the Gap Ridge Industrial Estate?

(1) & (2) Vegetation and flora field surveys were carried out, both by desktop and onsite, by LandCorp's Environmental Consultant, GHD. GHD was aware that Priority Ecological Communities (PECs) had been found 10km from the potential Gap Ridge Industrial Estate site, through Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) records of previous surveys however, GHD did not find any PECs onsite. The vegetation and flora field surveys were undertaken with regard to the Environmental Protection Authority's (EPA) Guidance Statements.
(3) The onsite survey was carried out on 19-20 February 2009.
(4) No, an onsite field survey was conducted on the area prior to designing and commencing development of the estate.
(5) Not applicable.
(6) & (7) The area is within the Shire of Roebourne Town Planning Scheme No. 8 and has already been referred to the EPA. The site was required to be referred to the Department of Planning (DoP) for approval, and a copy of the report was provided to DEC in March 2009. LandCorp also forwarded a copy of the GHD flora and fauna survey to the EPA for its records on 8April 2009.
(8) & (9) The survey was provided to the DEC by LandCorp for assessment on
25 March 2009.
(10) & (11) Zero.
