COLLIE INDUSTRY ATTRACTION AND DEVELOPMENT FUND
124. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the Minister for Regional Development:
Last night at a chamber of commerce meeting in Collie, a flyer
was handed out regarding the proposed Department of Fire and Emergency Services
multipurpose facility, which I talked about earlier today. This flyer
encourages local suppliers and subcontractors to register their interest for
its construction and other things.
(1) When does the government's official
tender process for these contracts begin and when are the closing dates?
(2) What
percentage of the tenders allocated does the government plan to grant to local
content providers?
(3) What is the government's definition of ''local
content'' within the Collie community for the purpose of this
allocation?
In this morning's Collie Mail it is claimed
that between 78 and 83 jobs have been created already within local projects. I would also like to know within which
local projects these jobs have been created and how many of these 78 to
83 jobs are local jobs located in Collie or employ Collie residents.

I thank the honourable member for notice of both those
questions and for his considerable interest in the great work the McGowan
government is doing in Collie. On behalf of the Minister for Regional Development,
I provide the following answer.
(1) The
Department of Finance's Building Management and Works, which is
managing the construction works, advises that the tender is expected to be
advertised in late March 2020 and will be open for approximately four weeks.
(2) Head
contractors will be asked to nominate the portion of their bids that comprises
local content as part of the tender process.
(3) Local
content requirements will be set out in the tender documentation consistent
with the requirements of the Western Australian Buy Local policy. The south
west local content adviser will assist in facilitating local content outcomes
for this project.
I provide the following answer on behalf of the Minister for Regional
Development for the second part of the member's question.
Please refer to the answer to question without notice 41
provided to Hon Dr Steve Thomas on 12 February 2020.
The PRESIDENT : Member, I heard only one question, so I
am not sure why two responses have been provided in that manner.
