(1) Although Westrail has received reports of cars broken into and stolen from railway station car parks, I understand that the police receive more complete reports of vehicles stolen. Accordingly, I suggest the Member direct this question to the Honourable Minister for Police. (2) Westrail special constables randomly patrol railway station car parks on a 24-hour basis. In addition, a staff presence is provided at the Stirling and Currambine railway station car parks. (3) Video surveillance is provided in the secured areas of the Warwick and Edgewater railway station car parks and at the Armadale railway station car park. (4) Charges for such offences are laid by the police under section 371A of the Criminal Code or under the Police Act. Therefore the Member should direct this question to the Honourable Minister for Police. (5) Westrail does not accept liability for the damage or theft of vehicles from railway station car parks by third parties; however, such liability is accepted in the secured areas of car parks at the Warwick and Edgewater railway stations by the contractor operating those car parks.
