MIDLAND PUBLIC HOSPITAL — MATERNAL AND
FOETAL SCREENING
787. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the
minister representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to question without notice 776.
(1) On what
grounds is St John of God Midland Public Hospital not offering chorionic villus
sampling or amniocentesis?
(2) Can the minister
confirm that King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women is no longer offering
women free of charge 19-week anatomy screening scans?
(3) If these scans are no longer
offered free of charge, why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) Patients who
require amniocentesis and CVS are referred to King Edward Memorial Hospital for
Women. This practice is consistent across all general hospitals within the East
Metropolitan Health Service and aligns with best clinical practice.
(2) I am advised
that King Edward Memorial Hospital continues to offer free 19-week anatomy
screening scans.
(3) Not applicable.
