714. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the Treasurer:
I have a supplementary question. Can
the Treasurer confirm that if the government does not build these projects as
one single project, the commonwealth will withdraw $1.1 billion and the
government will have to alter the existing Roe 8 contract to make sure that it
reaches Stock Road?

We will build Roe 8, then we will
get the contracts and have you guys appraise us for doing so and then we will
move on to the second stage.
Ms
R. Saffioti interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for West Swan, I call you to order for the first time.
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : We are going to sign the contract for Roe 8 and get it going
and get the bulldozers on there. This has been a 15-year exercise for us. For
15 years we have been working to develop it so we will get it going. As we know
from the ReachTEL poll and The West
Australian , it is an extremely popular initiative. We will then move on
quickly to the second stage.
