With regard to the Government’s electoral promise to implement Perth’s Bushplan-Bush Forever, I ask - (1) How much urban bushland identified under Bushplan has been cleared in the past 12 months? (2) If the minister cannot provide an answer to (1), why not? (3) If the minister can provide an answer to (1), how does this rate of clearing comply with the Government’s obligations under relevant international, national and state agreements and partnerships such as the National Heritage Trust partnership agreement, the national strategy for the conservation of Australia’s biological diversity, the national strategy for ecologically sustainable development, and the intergovernmental agreement on the environment? (4) How does this clearing comply with the commitment under Labor’s Bushplan that a Labor Government will immediately move to conserve the regionally significant bushland on government-owned sites? (5) Will the minister introduce a memorandum of understanding between all government agencies and statutory authorities to ensure the conservation of Bushplan sites under government control? (6) If yes to (5), when? (7) If no to (5), why not? Hon TOM STEPHENS

I thank the member for the question, of which I appear to have no notice, and that is the principal reason that I am not in a position to answer the question now. However, I will endeavour to obtain an answer to that question if the member would either ask the question tomorrow or put it on notice.
