Liquor restrictions
459. Mr Lachlan Hunter to
the Minister for Racing and Gaming:
I refer to the
minister's statement during the third reading debate on the Liquor Control
Amendment Bill 2025 when, in relation to Carnarvon, he told the house:
… pubs can still sell packaged
alcohol to tourists; they just have to do register the fact that they sold to a
tourist and confirm that the person is a tourist. They are allowed to do that.
Can the minister
confirm whether in fact that is accurate under the current Carnarvon liquor
restrictions, and specifically whether a tourist who is not a registered lodger
of those premises can legally purchase takeaway alcohol from a pub or hotel on
those restricted days?

I thank the member
for his question. I can confirm that a tourist can buy packaged alcohol from a
publican, provided that they are a lodger on those particular days.
