INCONTINENCE PADS - ANNUAL SUBSIDY
(1) How many Western Australian incontinence sufferers have been provided with the $470 annual subsidy to purchase incontinence pads since the program commenced on 1 February? (2) How many Western Australian sufferers have been refused the subsidy that commenced on 1 February and for what reasons? Mr J.A. McGINTY

I thank the member for Alfred Cove for some notice of the question. (1) No clients have yet received a subsidy, as the contract for this element of the scheme is being finalised between the service provider, which is the Silver Chain Nursing Association, and the Disability Services Commission. It started only last month. A total of 104 clients have been scheduled to take part in the development of a continence management plan, which is an important and mandated part of the scheme. It is expected that the majority of these clients will receive a subsidy. It should be noted that continence management does not always involve the use of continence products. (2) No application has been refused.
