Jorgensen Park—Environmental protection
463. Hon Amanda Dorn to
the Minister for the Environment:
I refer to Jorgensen
Park, a crown conservation reserve where the City of Kalamunda has leased 15
hectares to a commercial entity for the "Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest
Experience". The proponent's fauna assessment confirms night-roost
locations for endangered Carnaby's, Baudin's and vulnerable forest red-tailed
black cockatoos within the park, all listed under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 with recovery
plans in place.
(1) What oversight role does the minister
have when a commercial event proceeds on crown land in habitat identified by
recovery plans as critical to the survival and recovery of listed threatened
species?
(2) Has the minister received advice on
the event's impact on these listed species and, if so, what advice and from
whom?
(3) Has the minister received advice on
whether the city's independent review is adequate for Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 species
protection purposes and, if so, what advice and from whom?
