Perth entertainment and sporting precinct—Pedestrian
access
863. Hon Michelle Hofmann to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Sport and Recreation:
As part of the
proposed Perth entertainment and sporting precinct development at Burswood
Park, a local resident has raised concerns about pedestrian access to Burswood
Park from the Peninsula apartment towers, particularly for those arriving via
train.
(1) Is there a proposed pedestrian thoroughfare or
walkway planned between the Peninsula apartment towers to improve access to
Burswood Park?
(2) If so, what is the expected timeline for its
design and construction?
(3) If not, has pedestrian access been considered
as part of the broader precinct planning, and what types of and locations for
walkways are currently proposed?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Sport and Recreation.
(1)–(3) Transport connectivity issues at
the existing site have been raised throughout the consultation process.
Potential options are being considered as part of the design. The existing
Burswood Lakes residents' pedestrian access to the PESP site via Victoria Park
Drive and Bolton Avenue will be retained.
