650. Ms McHALE to the Minister for Health:
(1) Will the Minister advise whether any analysis has been undertaken on the likely effect of changes in exchange rates on the costs of providing health care services to public patients in Western Australia?
(2) If yes what was the outcome of such an analysis?
(3) If no, why not?
(4) Is there a difference between general inflation rate in the community and inflation/increase in costs of services delivery in the public health sector?
(5) If yes -
(a) what is the basis for the difference;
(b) what has been the actual difference between general CPI and Health CPI since the Coalition Government came into office;
(c) is it the case that the State and Commonwealth disagreed over the mechanism of adjusting the Commonwealth contribution to the cost of health services in Western Australia and the matter went to an arbitrator;
(d) what was the issue that went to the arbitrator and what did the arbitrator determine as fair;
(e) what is the difference between what the Federal Government determined and the arbitrators decision in terms of adjustments to the level of Commonwealth funding to this State;
(f) what action is the State taking to have the arbitration decision implemented; and
(g) will the Minister table a copy of the arbitrators report?
