I refer the minister to his answer to question without notice 180 asked on Wednesday, 23 March 2011, particularly answer (2)–(4), which states — The project is at too early a stage to provide a valid or useful estimate. (1) Is the minister aware that expressions of interest for tender for the packages offshore platform contracts, office procurement, onshore LNG plant contracts, onshore LNG plant procurement, subsea, flowlines and pipelines contracts have been available on the company’s website, with registration closing on most packages between early 2010 and March 2011? (2) If yes to (1), when does the minister think is the appropriate time to “use all its influence to maximise opportunities for WA businesses”? Hon SIMON O’BRIEN

I thank the honourable member for notice of his question. (1) Yes. (2) The government is already pursuing opportunities for local industry arising from the Wheatstone project through the operation of the Wheatstone local content steering committee and the placement of an officer from the Industry Capability Network in the Wheatstone project office.
