On 13 April in a speech to a business conference at the Baker Institute in Texas the Premier stated, ‘The site at James Price Point just north of Broome has been secured with the agreement of the traditional owners and the project proponent, Woodside’, and I ask -
(1) Given that the ‘in principle’ agreement with some Traditional Owners from James Price Point, is now the subject of a legal challenge from other Traditional Owners, and given that the native title claim itself is in turmoil with three separate claims in place of the original one, will the Premier now,
(a) correct his statement; and
(b) convey this correction to the United States conference organisers?

Department of State Development advises:
(1a-b) A Heads of Agreement for development of the Browse LNG Precinct was signed by the State of Western Australia, the Kimberley Land Council (authorised by the Goolarabooloo Jabirr Jabirr native title claimants) and Woodside Energy Limited in April 2009. The Heads of Agreement sets out a way forward for each of the signatories towards agreement for the establishment of an LNG precinct at James Price Point.
The location of the precinct has been agreed by the Traditional Owners, represented by the Kimberley Land Council, and therefore there is no need to correct the statement made to the Baker Institute in Texas.
