My question relates to the death of a 15-year-old student at the Exmouth District High School. (1) Has the minister requested a detailed investigation into the death of this boy? (2) Did he or his teacher have contact with the student-at-risk program? (3) If the inquiry has been carried out - (a) was the school nurse called in to do an assessment; (b) what educational psychologist assessments were done; (c) were counselling services offered to the boy or his family and teachers; and (d) why was Jake’s mother not informed of his learning and behavioural problems? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I thank the member for this question. (1)-(3) I have followed this case with some interest, including the reports in the media. It is a very sad case indeed. However, having said that, I indicate that this matter is currently being looked at by the Coroner’s Court and is currently under investigation. As such, it is not my intention to make any comment.
