COMMUNITIES — HOUSING
1159. Hon WILSON TUCKER to the minister representing the
Minister for Housing:
My question without notice, of which
some notice has been given, is to the Leader of the House representing the
Minister for Housing.
I refer to my question without
notice 1088 regarding state-managed residential dwellings in Kalgoorlie–Boulder,
in answer to which the minister provided the total number of properties in the
goldfields region.
(1) Can the minister specify the
local government areas the goldfields figure of 1 977 pertains to?
(2) Can the
minister please provide for the local government area of the City of Kalgoorlie–Boulder
only —
(a) the total
number of state-managed residential dwellings, including those managed directly
or in partnership with community housing organisations and Government Regional
Officers' Housing properties; and
(b) a breakdown
of the properties, specifying the number of public housing, Government Regional
Officers' Housing properties and any other categories of housing?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. As a reminder for the second time this week,
member, I represent the Minister for Housing in this chamber and have done for
some time. The following response has been provided by the Minister for
Housing.
(1) The
goldfields region of the Department of Communities includes the following local
government areas: Shire of Coolgardie, Shire of Dundas, Shire of Esperance,
City of Kalgoorlie–Boulder, Shire of Laverton, Shire of Leonora, Shire of Menzies, Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku and the
Shire of Ravensthorpe. Additionally , there are three Government Regional
Officers' Housing properties in the Shire of East Pilbara that are
administered from the goldfields region, as it is logistically easier due to
their remoteness, and they are included in this count.
(2) (a)–(b)
As at 31 July 2024, for the City of Kalgoorlie–Boulder, the total
number of state-managed residential dwellings was 1 269. This includes 652
public housing properties, 515 Government Regional Officers' Housing
properties and 102 community housing properties.
