The Court Security and Custodial Services Contract is managed on the basis of a suite of services. Each service has a pricing table based on volume bands for services provided. Separate pricing tables are generated for regional and metropolitan services to reflect differences in the underlying costs associated with different locations.
The Court Security and Custodial Services Contract is not costed on a per-site basis. Indicative costing based on staffing levels is provided below:
(1) (a) There are five local staff at Carnarvon at an estimated salary and overhead cost of $372,000. Services under the Contract include: regional court security; regional lock-up clearances; and regional court custody services and lock-up custody management.
(1) (b) There are seven staff at Kununurra at an estimated salary and overhead cost (inclusive of Fly-in & Fly-out, Accommodation, and Meal costs) of $903,000. Services under the Contract include: regional court security and regional lock-up clearances.
The discrepancy of $531,000 between staffing at Carnarvon and Kununurra is due to the two additional staff, and costs for Fly-in & Fly-out, Accommodation, and Meals.
(2) (a)-(b) No additional funding is currently allocated for the regional justice centre at Carnarvon or Kununurra.
(3) (a)-(b) The final operational requirements for the new Carnarvon or Kununurra regional centres have not been assessed for recurrent budget impacts in 2015-16.
