(a) Increasing the proportion of Indigenous staff trained and employed by the WA Country Health Service (WACHS) - Pilbara is a key workforce attraction and retention strategy.
WACHS has been undertaking discussion with Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA) representatives to ensure that programs being developed are culturally appropriate.
The program will include the provision of traineeships and education and coordination of the training across a variety of roles in the health system including receptionists, cleaners, health workers, nursing and other health roles as a means to attract and retain local Indigenous people into and within WACHS - Pilbara.
