Will the Minister provide a breakdown of expenditure on the following projects on page 269 of the 2000-01 budget papers -
(a) the $824,000 conservation land acquisition;
(b) the $3.563m Gascoyne Murchison Strategy;
(c) the $1m improvements to tourism facilities; and
(d) the $2m tourism road improvement program?

The Minister Replied:
(a) The $824,000 consists of $124,000 carryover from 1998/99, plus the 1999/00 allocation of $200,000, plus the estimated contribution of $500,000 from the Commonwealth Government via the National Reserve System Program of the Natural Heritage Trust.
Total expenditure to date this financial year has been $266,519 (inclusive of legal fees and charges) made up of $103,062 in State funds and $163,457 in Commonwealth funds, for the purchase of :
(i) part Sussex Location 3203 in the Shire of Busselton (Southern Ironstone threatened ecological community);
(ii) part Sussex Location 4049 in the Shire of Busselton (population of declared rare flora); and
(iii) part Nanutarra Pastoral Lease in the Pilbara (for addition to the adjoining Cane River Conservation Park).
Negotiations are current for the purchase of two further parcels of land, one in the Shire of Gingin and the other in the Shire of Chapman Valley, that will fully expend the balance of these funds.
(b) The $3.563m consists of $863,000 carryover from 1998/99, plus the 1999/00 allocation of $1.2m, and an estimated contribution of $1.5m from the Commonwealth Government via the National Reserve System Program of the Natural Heritage Trust.
Total expenditure to date this financial year has been $1.323 m (inclusive of legal fees and charges) made up of $487,393 in State funds and $835,726 in Commonwealth funds, for the purchase of:
(i) part Jimba Jimba Pastoral lease;
(ii) part Williambury Pastoral Lease;
(iii) part Mt Phillip Pastoral lease;
(iv) part Dalgety Downs Pastoral Lease;
(v) Waldburg Pastoral Lease;
(v) Lochada Pastoral Lease; and
for initial management costs on Muggon and Earaheedy Pastoral Leases purchased in 1998-99.
Negotiations are current for the purchase of five other pastoral leases in the Gascoyne-Murchison Region totalling $1.277m.
