ESPERANCE FIRES
1439. Hon DARREN WEST to the
minister representing the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the series of fires in the Esperance region last
month.
(1) At which locations were Department of Parks and Wildlife
crews deployed?
(2) How many DPaW staff were
deployed?
(3) What were the dates and duration of that deployment?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) Department of
Parks and Wildlife personnel were deployed in various locations in the
Esperance fire complex, but with an emphasis on the Cape Arid National Park
fires for which Parks and Wildlife had management responsibility.
(2) A total of 68 Parks and Wildlife
personnel were deployed to the Esperance fire complex.
(3) The dates were 15 to 28
November, and deployments for staff varied between two days and 13 days.
