answer on 20 May 2025 to my question without notice 180 which revealed that another
case of wrongful identification by WA police occurred on 4 October 2023.
(1) What were the circumstances surrounding this
case?
(2) Was this person held in custody, and if so,
for how long?
(3) What was the outcome of this case, and was
disciplinary action taken?
(4) Was this case referred to the Corruption and
Crime Commission?

has been provided to me by the Minister for Police.
(1) At 1:25 pm on 4 October 2023, police attended
and investigated a family violence incident in Canning Vale. As a result of the
information, police attended an address in Warnbro, where the suspect was
believed to reside. Police arrested a person believed to be involved in the
incident and conveyed them to Rockingham Police Station. Further inquiries
ascertained the arrested person was not a suspect involved in the incident.
(2) Yes, a person was held in custody for 31 minutes.
(3) The officers involved were subject to
disciplinary action, with both receiving verbal guidance in relation to this
matter.
(4) Yes.
