I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Main Roads Western Australia advises that two fatal crashes have occurred in the vicinity of the Gordon River Bridge in the five-year period between January 2000 to December 2004. They occurred in September 2002 and September 2003. (2)-(3) During 2004-05, minor improvements were undertaken to the 10-kilometre section north of Gordon River involving shoulder widening and the installation of audible edge lining. Audible edge lining will be extended to the 10-kilometre section south of Gordon River over the coming summer as part of a $500 000 Safer Roads project to complete edge lining along the full length of Albany Highway within the great southern region. Further improvements on the Gordon River section of Albany Highway will be considered as part of future budgetary processes.
