GOODS AND SERVICES TAX — STATE SHARE
839. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the
Treasurer:
I ask a supplementary question. Given that the Treasurer is
demanding $15.3 billion over four years, when does he expect that to be
returned to the state?

AnswerView source ↗

Firstly, as I indicated —
Ms R. Saffioti : When? When are you doing it?
The SPEAKER :
Member for West Swan, you have just asked a supplementary. Give the minister a
chance. I call you to order for the first time.
Dr M.D. NAHAN :
Over four years. There are two prerequisites. The first is the re-election of
the Turnbull government. Labor is against it. It has
said categorically that there will be no changes. Federal Labor made it quite clear that it is categorically against any change in the GST
distribution.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Right. We have the wall of noise now. Quick answer through the Chair.
Dr M.D. NAHAN : The
first prerequisite is the re-election of a Turnbull government. A Shorten
government would not make any changes.
Ms R. Saffioti interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Member for West Swan!
Dr M.D. NAHAN : The
second prerequisite is the re-election of the Barnett government because only
we try.
