C-series trains
829. Hon Steve Martin to
the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the C-series
trains and active passenger service.
(1) When did the Public Transport Authority first
publish notice that passengers with mobility aids cannot board the rail cars
via the middle door on each car?
(2) Is it still the case that passengers with
mobility aids cannot board via the middle doors?
(3) Why are passengers with mobility aids unable
to use these doors?
(4) Was the government aware of this limitation
prior to the signing of the C-series procurement contract?
(5) If yes to (4), why was this not viewed as an
issue?
(6) Has the government sought any advice on
compliance with discrimination legislation and, if so, what was the advice?
