Prisoners—Escapes
1176. Hon Nick Goiran to
the minister representing the Minister for Corrective
Services:
I refer to the
minister's answer on 18 September 2025 to my question without notice 775 that revealed
that in addition to the escape by Robert Kevin McCullough on 25 August 2025,
the department was investigating three other escapes.
(1) Is the minister aware that the McCullough
investigation was concluded within a month?
(2) Is the minister
aware that the Attorney General has since provided Parliament with a summary of
the outcomes of that investigation?
(3) Is the minister aware that the Attorney
General has declined to answer questions about the other three escapes on the
grounds they relate to persons in the custody of corrective services?
(4) In relation to the three prison escapes, will
the minister ensure that dates are set for the investigations to be completed
and for Parliament to be subsequently properly informed?
(5) If no to (1), (2), (3) or (4), why not?
