(1) How many operations covering uranium mining tenements have a Radiation Safety Officer?
(2) How many operations covering uranium exploration tenements have a Radiation Safety Officer?
(3) Are reports from Radiation Safety Officers produced as required by the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP), ‘Radiation Safety in Uranium Mining and Exploration’, requirements?
(4) Does the DMP and/or companies, monitor onsite radiation associated with ore or waste from previous uranium exploration, dating back as far as the 1960’s?

(1) The issue of whether an operation requires a Radiation Safety Officer is not related to the individual number of tenements held by a company. The need for a Radiation Safety Officer at either a mine or an exploration operation is a requirement under the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995 and the Radiation Safety (General) Regulations 1983 which are administered by the Radiological Council.
(2) See (1) above.
(3) The "Radiation Safety in Uranium Mining and Exploration" document is not a regulatory guideline; rather it is a general overview. The manager of a mine is required to report certain matters to the State mining engineer under the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995 and to the Radiological Council under the Radiation Safety (General) Regulations 1983.
(4) Only when it is required by either the State mining engineer and/or the Radiological council.
