(2) Program 2 of the Worker Transition Program provides up to $8,000 per eligible worker for reskilling, retraining and support in gaining new employment. This support package has been communicated regularly to impacted workers via in-person contact and email reminders.
Additionally, a multi-agency support team was formed to assist affected workers, offering tailored training, skills development, and employment guidance. This included career advice, job matching, and resume help. The team has delivered over 50 regional outreach sessions, the majority of which were held in Bridgetown, Manjimup, and Nannup.
(3) $17.69 million has been allocated to businesses in Warren-Blackwood under the Native Forest Transition (NFT) Industry and Community Development grant programs to create jobs, support business diversification and attract new industries to the region.
(4) The Western Australian Government has committed $80 million in NFT funding and allocated the funds to support across the 3 program streams for businesses, workers and communities to transition out of native timber reliance. A number of programs remain open until the end of 2025.
(5) All eligible workers and businesses who applied under the NFT Worker and Business Transition Programs received funding support. The Industry and Community Grant programs were competitive grant programs not all applicants met the grant criteria, and some applicants were not successful.
