PRISON AND YOUTH CUSTODIAL OFFICERS — SALARIES
619. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the
Minister for Corrective Services:
My question is to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Corrective Services. I refer to prison
officers and youth custodial officers employed by the Department of Justice.
(1) Please provide the following
information about each of the respective roles —
(a) the current base salary range excluding
superannuation;
(b) the total number of permanent FTE
available for 2022–23; and
(c) the number of
officers employed at each salary step/level of their respective salary
agreements?

I thank the honourable member for some
notice of the question. I remind the member that I now represent the Minister
for Corrective Services in this place.
(1) (a) The
prison officer salary range is $60 398 to $142 564 and the youth custodial
officer salary range is $64 172 to $85 797.
(b) As at 13 June
2023, there were 2735.44 FTE prison officers and as at 13 June 2023, there were
270.12 FTE youth custodial officers.
(c) I table
two attachments. Attachment 1 is for prison officers by classification and
step, and attachment 2 is for youth custodial officers by classification and
step.
There is a note. The difference in
FTE values between (b) and (c) is due to the count of FTE. Question (b) is
taken from the establishment FTE and question (c) is taken from the headcount
of staff; that is, some staff may be employed on a part-time basis.
