I refer to the Subiaco Waste Water Treatment Plant (SWWTP), and ask -
(1) Is the SWWTP currently compliant with the conditions of its
Environmental Protection Act 1986
sewage facility license?
(2) If no to (1), what are the matters subject to the breach of license and what remedial action is required to bring about compliance?
(3) Is the SWWTP currently compliant with the conditions of its
Environmental Protection Act 1986
liquid waste facility license?
(4) If no to (3), what are the matters subject to the breach of license and what remedial action is required to bring about compliance?
(5) Has the SWWTP ever breached conditions of its
Environmental Protection Act 1986
sewage treatment facility license or liquid waste facility license?
(6) If yes to (5), what are the matters subject to the breach of license and what remedial action was required to bring about compliance?

1-2. Yes.
3-4. Yes.
5-6. The Water Corporation has breached its licence conditions by the late submission of air quality monitoring data and sewage and sludge overflows.
After discussion with the Water Corporation, the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) has approved an alternative sampling method for air quality monitoring data, to ensure future data is submitted on time.
The Water Corporation reported a raw sewage overflow on 26 March 2009 due to high rainfall at that time. The Water Corporation also reported an incident on 9 July 2009 where sludge overflowed due to a pipe failure.
As both these matters are still under investigation by DEC, it is not appropriate for me to comment further.
